Texas State Capitol
The Texas State Capitol is located in Austin, Texas, and is the largest state capitol building in the country by total square footage. Designed by architect Elijah E. Myers and completed in 1888, the current building replaced an earlier 1853 structure that burned down during a riotous celebration over a bill passed by the legislature giving women back their property after marriage.
The current Texas State Capitol building features three domes with gold leaf accents, one of which is covered by actual gold leaf (unlike many other claims of being “covered”).
It was designed to represent power and grandeur as well as provide shelter from storms for those working inside its massive walls. The dome rises 288 feet above ground level; if you were to stand on top of it, you would be nearly 100 feet above where H-E-B stands now!
Congress Avenue Bridge
Congress Avenue Bridge, or Lady Bird Lake Hike and Bike Path, is a great place to visit on your Austin tour. The bridge spans Lady Bird Lake and connects Downtown Austin to Zilker Park.
It’s also one of the most popular attractions in the city, so it can get crowded! The bridge was originally constructed in 1933, but it was renovated in 1982 after being damaged by flooding and fire.
Nowadays you can walk across it or bike along its path; there are several ways to get onto the bridge itself including stairs near Congress Avenue and 4th Street as well as an elevator near Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard.
Parking nearby is fairly easy if you want to drive there yourself (there are meters), but public transportation like Capital Metro Buses are also available if that’s more convenient for you.
Just make sure that whatever mode of transportation you choose gives direct access so that you don't have far either way once finished exploring Congress Avenue Bridge!

Its waters are crystal clear, making it an excellent spot for snorkeling or scuba diving as well as swimming laps or just floating around on your back enjoying nature's beauty at its most relaxing level.

Zilker Metropolitan Park opened in 1962 on the south side of Barton Creek on land donated by John Henry Zilker for use as “a free public park forever” by his wife Birdie Dessau Zilker. John Zilkler died in 1969 at age 81; however his vision lives on through this wonderful place where “nature continues its eternal dance.
