What you’ll do

  • bullet-iconYour walking tour of Charlottetown starts on the city’s waterfront at Confederation Landing.
  • bullet-iconFrom here, the tour will progress up Great George St. which is known for the evolution of architecture displayed here with its beautifully preserved Georgian architecture on one side of the street and Gothic Revival architecture on the other side. While on this street, you will pass by the Bishops Palace and the Basilica Cathedral which is considered to be the defining silhouette of Charlottetown.
  • bullet-iconContinuing onward, guests will stroll the grounds of Province House - also known as the birthplace of Confederation before heading over to Victoria Row. This area is well known for its daily live entertainment, local artists, artisan shops, cafes, and farm-to-table restaurants.
  • bullet-iconGuests will continue onward to view the Confederation Centre of the Arts where the world-famous Anne of Green Gables play has been running for over 50 years! Your tour will then continue on to pass multiple points of interest including Confederation Court Mall, City Hall, and Rochford Square before heading over to the Prince Edward Island government buildings.
  • bullet-iconThe government buildings are a stunning example of brutalist architecture. Here you will visit the Beaconsfield Historic House and the Government House of Prince Edward Island - which today serves as the home of the Lieutenant Governor of Prince Edward Island.
  • bullet-iconAfter this, the tour will start to head back toward the starting point by following the Victoria Boardwalk. Along the way, guests will pass by the Culinary Institute of Canada, the Queen Charlotte Armoury, the PEI Convention Centre arriving back at Peakes Quay and Confederation Landing for the end of your tour.

Tour will operate rain or shine. We recommend dressing for the weather and comfortable footwear. You may also wish to bring water.

Tour is stroller/wheelchair accessible. There is a gradual incline on Great George St. but the tour remains level throughout once you reach the top.

Joe was a great guide showing us all of the highlights and history of downtown Charlottetown. The Basilica is beautiful and the main street is very quaint.

The walking tour is a great way to learn about the city, architecture and history of Charlottetown. We enjoyed our tour with Joe, he's a Chartlottetown and history expert. I would highly recomment this tour, especially if Joe is the guide!
