History

For over 35 years, the Prince Edward Island Preserve Company has been upholding its old-fashioned values of quality, hospitality, and service, offering guests a truly memorable experience. The Preserve Company is nestled on the banks of the River Clyde, in the charming village of New Glasgow. It is currently housed in a 1913 butter creamery — the historic centerpiece of the community. Bruce and Shirley MacNaughton rescued the building from demolition in 1987, giving it a new life as a unique food destination.

With a vision to create a place where guests can enjoy food with integrity and flavor, the MacNaughtons started producing low-sugar preserves and gradually expanded their offerings to include a wide variety of specialty food items. Today, visitors can indulge in delicious blended full-leaf tea, spice blends, and other specialty foods, all while taking in one of the best views on the island from the Preserve Company's 125-seat dining room. Not only does the company focus on exceptional food and service, but the owners also have a deep sense of social responsibility. They have started The Gardens of Hope, a 12-acre garden sanctuary next door with a mission to open a Respite Cottage for those dealing with life-threatening illnesses.
