History
The lake's history dates as far back as the early 1900s, with it being constructed to help remedy a water shortage in Dallas. The construction took place during the years 1910 to 1911. The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) began developing the shores into a park in the 1930s in association with the Dallas Park Board. The remaining piece of their land is in the form of the 'Daniel-Cox Family Cemetery' that was renovated by the Cox family after the Daniel family went bankrupt.
