History

This venue started operating in 1996, but before it was named the KeyBank Center it was called the HSBC Arena. Has been a sports venue for Buffalo since it was inaugurated back in 1996 to replace the Memorial Auditorium. The owners and the politicians considered the new arena crucial for stimulating downtown renewal or, at least, for putting it on track; on the 21st of September, 1996, the first official match was played in the newly constructed home of the Buffalo Sabres. Since then it has been used for several significant games and events such as NHL playoffs and NCAA tournament games. Such endless commitment to improving fans’ experience and immersion in their sports world keeps the arena in the middle of Buffalo’s sporting spirit.

Hockey, basketball, concerts, WNY arts, and culture all awaiting at the KeyBank Center. If you are going to your first Sabres game, or you are returning for another great Bandits game, you will always remember this stadium.
